Splish Splash

A colleague of mine from work brought her daughter for a spin on Nancy last week, she joined us on her mountain bike as we had a leisurely stroll through the woods in all our fly gear - thankfully we weren't harassed by flies...I have finally learnt the best routes to avoid them.
My colleague snapped the following shots of us on her phone, as there are so rarely any photos of me on horseback I had to share them.
Apologies for the state of me...I'm not usually camera friendly and was really hoping I wouldn't be in these shots!
Argh the state of me!

Water crossing at the start of our hack

The rest of the photos taken on our way home @ the same water crossing

Kika bravely leading the way in, she is such a water horse - loves splashing about as much as I do! Match made in water-loving heaven we are!

If it wasn't for me looking like a sack, I like the horses in this one!

Also before I forget, please check out these wonderful posts from Lorna @ EquestrianReality and vote for your favourite post of the three (or all three over the coming days if like me you like them all!) LINK
She is one of my favourite bloggers and has had three of her posts nominated for the Irish Blogger Awards - I always get a good laugh out of her posts, she has a unique outlook on life & a wonderful turn of phrase. Hopefully you agree and will vote for her posts to help hopefully win her an award. And who knows, if you like her writing style as much as I do - she may even get a few more followers from this plug! :)
I hope so - as she really is fantastic & inspirational!
Like all the bloggers I stalk *ahem* follow!

  2. What a pretty place! I like how the horses are all geared-up to protect them from the bugs but you guys are riding with exposed arms...

    1. Lol, never thought about that, but bare arms for us it's easy for us to swat away flies but horsies without rugs are more exposed and sensitive. The flies were so bad before we went on holidays that it used to drive them demented hacking.
The rugs have been a godsend although i think thankfully the flies are disappearing ahead of colder weather returning - although i still want the sunshine to stay!

    1. We are blessed with the forestry we can hack in and the yard I board at in general - they have me spoiled with the facilities available to us. I hope I never have to leave!

    1. Thanks KK, she was a doll. Had another good uni friend of mine who used to ride when she was younger out for a spin the day before and Nancy threw an almighty buck when a briar snagged in her tail, so I was very glad she didn't have any similar reactions when my colleague and her daughter were about!

    1. Thanks K, I always think we must be an odd sight when we often meet people pic-nicking at that crossing - now I know exactly what we look like...you're right, I call them my knight horses when we are all kitted out! LOL!

Yeah, I know you couldn't follow because of some troubles I had with people who read my more personal blog which shouldn't have happen. But I deleted the most personal texts now and concentrate on photos and therefore you can follow me now, I've just changed it! :)

  11. I see a lot of people ride here in flymasks, but never full fly gear! Your bugs must be even worse than ours. I just stock up on a lot of fly spray. :)
