This flashback takes us back to 1993 when I partook in my first pony club camp on my mother's old horse Tassie ♡♡♡
Weirdly I think i got most improved rider for the week, but seeing as I probably hadn't ridden since the previous summer I could really only improve from two lessons a day 😉
Apologies for the photo quality, they are camera phone captures of old school photos.
Am hoping to get in plenty quality time & saddle time over the weekend! Fingers crossed i can find dry windows between the scattered showers & thunderstorms to haul the girls in, ride them & get some more poopa scoopin maintenance of the paddock.
A place where I record the adventures of myself and my Irish Sport Horse mare, Kika. Who I purchased as an un-backed 3yr old in 2007. This blog follows the trials and tribulations of first-time horse ownership since moving from Ireland to Luxembourg in 2010. UPDATE: as of 2013, Kika is being joined by Nancy a Friesan X ISH mare bred by my family who I had my eye on since she was a foal and have been lucky enough to buy and add to my equine family.
How cute were you?! Love these pics :)
ReplyDeleteI hate photos of myself, but my mama's horse is too cute not to be featured on the blog. She was in her late twenties then & minded me like the super star she was. The lessons took place in an open field, not many horses would look after an 8 year old kid who hadn't ridden in a year in an open field.
DeleteThose are the best horses :) Worth their weight in gold.
DeleteI hope I have my girls as long and as healthy. Love them
DeleteI love these! You and ponies are so cute!!
ReplyDeleteAw thanks S
DeleteSo cute! How nice you have those photos. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI am super lucky to have had extended family involved in horses. Had I lived in the same country as them I'm sure I'd have had a lot more exposure ☺
DeleteGreat pictures! Love them
ReplyDeleteThanks NHW, I'm so glad this feature is being well received ☺
DeleteAw, what sweet old pictures!
ReplyDeleteThanks J, I live that my extended family was/is horsey - makes things so much more fun for me
DeleteI wish I could have done pony club when I was a kid. I didn't take my first riding lesson until I was seventeen lol. My dad taught me how to ride. :) I love the pictures!! The expression on Tassie's face in the second picture is priceless. She's sooo looking for carrots. :D
ReplyDeleteI was lucky in that I got to do 3 camps as a kid, but as i was only ever there in the summers i missed the rest of the fun of Pony Club. Still those weeks were awesome & I wouldn't not have done them ☺
