Forestry Fairytale

My girls being angels and coming to me - save me walking to them!
Sunday was a great day, L asked if she could ride Kika in the woods, while another yard friend rode her mare and I took Nancy - the first time my girls have been ridden at the same time! I had great fun playing with Kika from another angle, :p

Kika also got a new experience as L opted to ride her in her western saddle
Thankfully, there will be few words from me today as I couldn't be happier with my two girls, both behaved really well. Nancy even leading a good bit of the way as Kika can be a chicken and O walks slower than Miss N, so as she's a big brave girl I'm happy to let her lead the way and not rely on following others.

At the start Nancy was a little disoriented as we turned on a different route to go up, one she would usually come down. So she was a bit sulky at the start lol - but her sulk is nothing like Kika's hissy fits, she just walked a little slower like she was dragging her feet!

Kika from a side-on angle, happy head on her sandwiched between her buddies
The three amigos & pooch pal :-)
Nancy leading the way up a new trail to both of us - she is such a brave girl!
In fact Nancy is so zen that when we finished our stroll in the woods and were heading back to the yard, we have to pass between the YOs houses (two brothers) and one of them was having a garden party/BBQ - Kika saw all the people and started to pretend to be afraid, so I closed my legs around Nancy and she bravely led the other silly sausage past without even looking at them...O was a little further back as again she walk slower than N, plus usually if Kika finds something scary O tends to look then too and as she was being ridden by another friend who wouldn't be used to her and hadn't ridden in almost 2 months - I was just glad that Nancy is a lot more sensible then her elders were in that circumstance, lol, last thing I wanted was for Kika to exhibit her circus pony tricks for the YO's guests!

Very successful & enjoyable jaunt in the woods was had by all, in fact talk is of the three of us going to a "Rally" on the 16th, where we'll box the horses to a start point and go on a stroll with breaks for food and drinks during the day. How cool would that be?!

    1. Aw thanks Amanda, as of the end of this month we'll only be hacking on trails until the end of September so will probably be flooding the blog with "through-the-ears" snapshots!

  5. Trail rides and a good hack bring out the best in our horses and no better wait to bond! I still think about the trail ride I had with Dakota a few years back because it was such a milestone for us and my trust in him.

    Glad your duo was super!

    1. I Love trail riding, so relaxing and enjoyable + you are 100% right in that it helps solidify the bonds between horse & rider as the trust must go both ways to navigate the scary bits! ;-)

    1. She's giving me the hairy eyeball in that photo, lol, but it was a quick snapshot I was taking so she wasn't posing or showing herself off in any way!
